Football Games

Who are you?:
Middle School Student
Where are you from?:
Framingham, MA
In the 5th grade my friends and I would have football games at recess everyday. Everyday we would take turns being captains. Being captain was a big honor because you were in charge of who would be on your team. The best stragey, obviously, was to pick the fastest and strongest kids for you team. So, on the day I was picked to Be a Captain i picked my friends first, then the kids i knew were fast. Then, when there were only a few kids left i was about to pick a kid, who i knew wasn't the fastest or strongest, but he was nice to me so i was going to pick him. My friends quickly told me not to pick him, arguing that he would bring our team down. Giving into peer pressure I didn't pick him and he was left out that day. Looking back i realize how common that is. However, I still feel like a jerk. I know that it wasn't a serious game and it is more important for me to pick him than for me to win the game. Though this wasn't a big deal, and it happens all the time, it doesn't make it right and nobody should be subjected to that kind of humiliation.
